Hall pair a chance for Friday racetrack return

Champion harness racing trainer Gary Hall Snr has nominated his WA Pacing Cup winner and runner-up Diego (Bettor’s Delight) and Jumpingjackmac (Mach Three) for this Friday’s Free-For-All at Gloucester Park.

Jumpingjackmac and Diego haven’t started since they finished third and sixth respectively in the inaugural edition of The Nullarbor (2536m) in April.

Hall Snr said Jumpingjackmac was more likely than Diego to run this week but didn’t rule out starting both of them in the 2130m event.

“They’ve both been working great,” Hall Snr told The Trots WA.

“Both of them are a bit big, so it will take them both a couple of runs to get to their best.

“I will probably start Jumpingjackmac because you can drive him cold.

“I will play it by ear with Diego and whether I start him.”

Jumpingjackmac has started 14 times since his most recent win last October.

The five-year-old has run placings in The Nullarbor (2536m), Golden Nugget (2536m), 4YO Classic (2130m), WA Pacing Cup (2936m) and Pinjarra Cup (2692m) in that time.

Hall Snr said he had high hopes the son of Mach Three could score a breakthrough win at the top level this campaign.

“I think he’s going as well, if not better, than he ever has,” he said.

“He looks better than he ever has and I think he can win a big race this time in.

“He’s got the Pacing Cup as his goal this campaign.”

The TABtouch-WA Pacing Cup (2536m) will take place at Gloucester Park on November 10.

As well as Diego and Jumpingjackmac, Hall Snr could also have Friday’s August Cup runner-up Prince Of Pleasure in this week’s event.

Hall Snr said he was happy with Prince Of Pleasure’s effort behind Mighty Ronaldo and could be more effective over the longer trip.

Meanwhile, Hall Snr will start exciting four-year-old Youre So Fine in the $50,000 Binshaw at Gloucester Park on Friday.

The four-year-old has won six straight races since he returned to racing last month.
