Mister Smartee (Always B Miki) prompted an incredible comparison following his powerful harness racing victory in the A$50,000 Group Three Four & Five-Year-Old Championship (2130m) at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

The NZB Standardbred graduate kept his unbeaten record as a four-year-old intact with a powerful display to score for trainer Gary Hall Snr and driver Stuart McDonald.
Mister Smartee was purchased for $32,500 by former trainer Craig Edmonds when he was offered by breeder-vendors Dancingonmoonlight at the 2021 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch.
After setting a New Zealand record in the second in his home country, Mister Smartee was sold to clients of the Hall Snr stable and has gone on to be one of West Australia’s best pacers of his age group.
Mister Smartee’s powerful win led to Hall Snr making a huge statement following his stand out win.
The leading Perth horseman declared the pacer as potentially his best horse since his all-conquering New Zealand bred champion Themightyquinn (Washington VC).
“I reckon Mister Smartee is potentially my best prospect in 10 years since Quinny’s retirement,” the trainer told The West Australian.
Mister Smartee raced wide before sitting parked and crushing his rivals in a mammoth winning effort, leading to Hall Snr’s declaration.
“It was a huge effort tonight by this horse to overcome travelling wide before racing outside the leader, before he drew away to win,” Hall Snr said.
MISTER SMARTEE REPLAY
Mister Smartee stopped the clock in a stunning 1.54.3 mile rate for 2130m.
Hall now plans to aim Mister Smartee at the biggest possible West Australian features in the year ahead.
“I will set him for the WA Pacing Cup, The Nullabor and the Fremantle Cup.”
Friday night’s epic win took Mister Smartee’s career record to nine wins from just 11 starts.
The pacer is one of two Group race winners by Alabar sire Always B Miki (USA) to win Group races across Australasia over the weekend, alongside Aardie’s Express (Always B Miki).
Alabar will offer 10 youngsters by the sire at the National Weanling Sale at Karaka on May 23.
