Exciting Love You colt Outamyway put the exclamation mark on a productive week for Haras Des Trotteurs’ stallions when he captured the $75,000 Harness Million at Addington on Friday (October 2).
Having only his fifth start, the colt settled in the one-one trail before peeling three deep on the home turn.
Knuckling down to his task, Outamyway surged to the front in the dying stages to win by a head.
The mile rate for the 1980 metres was 1:59.9 with the last 800 in 58 and 400 in 28.4.
Bred in NZ’s Southland district, Outamyway is the eighth foal of the unraced Sundon mare Do It Your Way, a sister to the former smart NSW square-gaiter Idid It Myway.
The Haras Des Trotteurs sires Used To Me, Quaker Jet and Orlando Vici were also represented by winners last week.
Chateaubriant, a four-year-old gelding and one of the first crop of Used To Me, overcame an early miscue and a torrid passage to notch his third win at Canberra. The gelding was bred by Haras Des Trotteurs principal Pat Driscoll from the American-bred mare Let’s Be Happy (by Andover Hall).
The three-year-old Gunner became the tenth individual winner from Quaker Jet’s first crop of 24 foals when he outsprinted his rivals at Canberra. Quaker Jet, a multiple Group 1 winning son of Love You, has left 11 winners from 17 Australian-bred starters to date.
While Red White An Bloom, a NSW bred and owned three-year-old by Orlando Vici, maintained his devastating form when he came off a 30 metre handicap to trounce his rivals at Bendigo. It was his fourth success from his last five outings.
Orlando Vici has the excellent siring score of having produced 12 winners from 14 starters from just 19 foals of racing age!
