The Herald Sun reports that Queensland’s leading metropolitan harness racing club has refused to stand down its CEO after he was charged with one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault, the state’s Racing Minister says.
Albion Park Harness Racing Club CEO Scott Steele was last month committed to stand trial in the District Court on one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
The Courier Mail first reported on the allegations last year but was prevented from identifying Mr Steele, 52, for legal reasons.
Police will allege he was working at a sports club when he sexually assaulted two women.
The offences were allegedly committed against the women aged in their 20s on two separate dates in April 2015 and December 2016.
It is understood one of the alleged incidents occurred at a Christmas party.
