The Haras Des Trotteurs’ sires experienced huge harness racing success both on and off the track recently.
Brilliant gelding Just Believe (Orlando Vici) maintained his devastating form when he defeated a top field in the Group 1 $300,000 Great Southern Star in a career-best 1:55.5 at Melton. The win vaulted his sire Orlando Vici into second position in this season’s Trotting sire’s premiership.
The Great Southern Star Final proved a bonanza for Haras Des Trotteurs as their sires also left the third placed Im Ready Jet (Quaker Jet) and Queen Elida fourth (Love You). Earlier in the night Im Ready Jet took a qualifier in a new lifetime mark of 1:55.2.
Other stud-sired winners last week were Surprise To Me (Used To Me), Atout (by Quaker Jet) and Speedy Lover (by Love You).
The Haras Des Trotteurs’ sires left two winners at the annual Australian Harness Racing Awards in 3YO Trotting Colt/Gelding of the Year Cravache Dor (by Orlando Vici) and Trotting Mare of the Year Queen Elida NZ (by Love You).
Cravache Dor won 10 of his 13 starts and $178,850 including the Victoria Derby, Vicbred Final and Need For Speed Final, while Queen Elida’s seven successes were headed up by the Breeders Crown, La Coocaracha, Matriarch Trot and a heat of the Inter Dominion.
