Sydney harness racing reinsman Cameron Hart reached 500 wins in his succinct career today.
With his very own hashtag of #CAMHART500 the countdown was on and Hart had a sigh of relief when reaching the mark at Tabcorp Park Menangle today after driving a double on the program.
āI was hoping it wouldnāt take too long after the countdown started,ā said Hart.
Win 499 was courtesy of the promising Joe and Mary Rando-trained trotter Timothy Red.
Hart had driven the well-bred son of Muscle Hill once before for a victory and subsequently remains unbeaten in his two drives on the trotter.
It was the first of five drives Hart had locked in for todayās meeting and following a close second with the Jason Grimson-trained Blue Ocean, Hart brought up the milestone with Birdy Mach in the last race on the nine-race card.
The Michael Xuereb-trained son of Mach Three had not won a race since April and it was Hartās first drive on the gelding since December last year.
With a winning margin of a neck, it was all Hart needed to reach his magical mark.
Hart is currently the second top driver in New South Wales behind Jack Trainor.
He has had an unbelievable season winning the Group 1 Australian Pacing Gold Bullion Final with My Ultimate Byron and the Group 1 Riverina Championship with Techys Angel among many other Group successes.
Hart reached 100 winners for the season last week and only a fortnight ago drove a record five winners at Penrith ā a personal best result.
The 22-year-old started driving in the 2015/16 season and works solely as a freelance driver.
He now ranks as one of the top 20 drivers in Australia for the season.
