Hart takes it all in his stride

It has become a regular occurrence to see New South Wales’ leading harness racing reinsman Cameron Hart driving multiple winners wherever he participates.

And he did it again on Saturday night (Oct. 8) at Tabcorp Park Menangle.

On top of both the state and metropolitan drivers’ premierships, Hart moved one step closer to securing those titles when the 23-year-old notched up four victories on the nine-race program.

Included in his bag of winners was Wolf Stride (Rock N Roll Heaven), who took out the Club Menangle Les Chant Free-For-All for trainer Darren Binskin.

Wolf Stride was well supported by punters, sent out as second favourite behind Jack Trainor’s Stingray Tara.

After beginning moderately from gate seven, Hart elected to make a mid-race move with the gelding when the speed slackened, and that daring move resulting in him finding the front and from there Wolf Stride traveled boldly before running away for a comfortable eight metre victory, much to trainer Binskin’s delight.

“He was really strong on Saturday night,” said Binskin.

“The horse has won three Group 1 races and has had his fair share of problems along the way.

“But with fingers crossed, we have those issues sorted out and he can continue racing well.

“Cam is an outstanding young talent.

“He drove the horse exactly how I wanted him to, and he always gets the best out of any horse that he sits behind.”

Wolf Stride will now be aimed at the Group 1 Len Smith Mile at the end of the month, before being prepared for a tilt at the Inter Dominion in Victoria in November.

“It is all systems go now for the Len Smith,” said Binskin.

“I know the race will have plenty of depth in it, but this guy has earned his spot and I am confident that he will give a great sight.

“After that we will monitor his progress, but our plan is to then press on for a crack at the Inter Dominion.”

“It is a great time of year for harness racing on the eastern seaboard, so I am just grateful that we have a horse like Wolf Stride going well enough to be involved.”
