Hawke may have a star in Im No Trouble

Canberra based trainer Michael Hawke could well have a potential topliner after his two year old pacer Im No Trouble (Art Major) beat the older horses when he took out the Wagga Wagga City Council Pace at the Riverina Paceway on Friday evening.

Driver Blake Jones showed coolness despite him starting favourite.

It was my initial plan to lead. When he won his first race with Melissa driving him he did it tough.

But after they went so hard early l decided to ease back. I needed to balance him out. He got a little bit lost when I let him go but once I let go of the plugs he really went to the line well.

And Jones patience paid off.  Noting the high early speed Jones settled back one out and one back and didn’t time his sprint until leaving the back straight. Yarraman Jolt from his wide barrier draw but ran his first quarter in 27.3 seconds the effort which would eventually toll on him.

Wicked Wizard similarly had a hard run to race outside the leader after being three wide for most of the early trip. However despite him fighting on he was no match for Im No Trouble who is now unbeaten in two appearances.

Whilst it is early at this stage Im No Trouble can only improve and next season when he is more mature and he could be a serious contender for the three year old classics.

Michael Hawke added.

His elder brother Im In Trouble won over $164,000. I’ve also had great luck with the family. I had a mare Girl In Trouble who won a VicBred three year old at Melton. I’ve had some 70 wins with the family.

I’d like to try the Bathurst series as a three year old and there is still a possibility that he might go to the Leeton MIA Breeders Plate on Boxing Day.

Obviously things can go wrong for youngsters when they resume but the way In No Trouble has won his two starts gives the impression he could be a little bit than average.
