Talented pacer Hes From Heaven (Sweet Lou) dented the hopes of War Dan Buddy for his Eureka harness racing prospects when he led all the way to take out the the lifestyle Communities Woodlea Free For All at Melton on Saturday evening.

Despite the excellent recent form of War Dan Buddy Hes From Heaven was confidently supported and driver James Herbertson expressed his quiet confidence in the gelding prior to the event. Nonetheless War Dan Buddy was installed a firm favourite.
As expected Helluva showed his customary early speed to lead and Herbertson allowed He’s From Heaven to stride up to eventually take up the running. Ryan Sanderson on War Dan Buddy gradually allowed his charge to race up outside the leader but putting no pressure on Hes From Heaven.
And Hes From Heaven benefitted from having no challenges by running his last two quarters in 31.5 and 30.6 seconds.
The race developed into a sprint in the final lap and War Dan Buddy issued a serious challenge on leaving the back straight. Just as he was about to join the leader, He’s From Heaven sprinted clear and it was obvious that he would have plenty in reserve. Dangerous who hadn’t raced since March and had followed War Dan Buddy in the run switched to the inside but Hes From Heaven packed too many guns to win by six metres from Dangerous with Ultimate Vinnie in third placing.
HES FROM HEAVEN AUG 30 REPLAY
Hes From Heaven is trained by Jess Tubbs who will have stable mate Fighter Command in the Eureka.
War Dan Buddy weakened to finish fourth and now faces a difficult task in securing a spot for next week’s $2.1 million Eureka at Menangle Park.
The win of Hes From Heaven gave Herbertson an early double as in the previous event he was successful with veteran trotter Nephew of Sonoko (Danny Bouchea).
Herbertson was suitably impressed with the performance of Hes From Heaven.
“It was a comfortable early section, we just rolled there not too bad. He was pretty relaxed in front which was nice”.
“He’s reeled off a pretty good last half (54.7 seconds) we got it good in the first half. I think he’s gone up to expectations tonight”.
“War Dan Buddy he stuck there pretty honest, but I was a little more worried with Dangerous on his back he was getting a good trip. But his last quarter (26.8 seconds) was enough to keep him at bay”.
“Tonight was just the way the race turned out and I drove him that way”.
“I think he’s versatile enough, he’s still learning but I’ve always had a really big opinion of him, as long as he stays sound they’ll have a bit of fun with him”.
