They may not have had luck in harness racing’s major Breeders Challenge series, however, some talented two-year-olds will be hoping to change that in the Regional Series.
Heats for that component will be held at Bathurst on Wednesday night and trainer Mark Hewitt will be looking for that winning form again with Not To Be Denied.
The well-bred daughter of Always Be Miki was unbeaten before her Breeders Challenge semi-final where she finished third.
She then finished a close sixth in the $150,000 Group 1 final to Madrid and ran some of the fastest closing sectionals of the race despite finishing out of the prizemoney.
A filly that finished just behind Not To Be Denied in the Breeders Challenge Final was the Steve Turnbull-trained Pas De Cheval who is racing in the other Regional Series heat tonight for fillies.
There are also heats for the colts and geldings where trainer Bernie Hewitt has seven horses in the two qualifiers.
More heats for other regions will be held throughout the week.
