Bathurst harness racing reinsman Doug Hewitt will return to his home track tonight after competing in Queensland on the weekend.
Hewitt travelled north to drive talentedĀ SomebeachsomewhereĀ pacer Ripp in the Group 3 Redcliffe Derby.
After racing outside the leader, Ripp was beaten more than 14m finishing sixth to the winner Tims A Trooper.
The three-year-old reportedly failed to handle the Redcliffe circuit, however, will remain in Queensland to take his invitation to next Saturdayās $305,000 The Rising Sun.
Hewitt will turn his attention to his six drives at Bathurst on Wednesday, with only two of those commitments for his father, trainer Bernie Hewitt.
The latter has remained in Queensland and has six starters at Albion Park on Saturday including this seasonās richest two-year-old Jewel Melody.
