“No big head here, I had my helmet on to keep it in shape!”

Dylan Egerton-Green wasn’t settling for second best on Monday, with the talented harness racing reinsman taking out five races from five drives at Pinjarra, including two of his own horses he prepared.

A first for Egerton-Green, with his previous best being four winners on program, the 29-year-old was happiest seeing his home-bred three-year-old Extinction (Alta Christiano) getting his first win at just his second start in a race. After qualifying in late October 2021, he went footsore and Egerton-Green decided to give the then two-year-old an extended spell to grow.

“We sold a 10 per cent share of Extinction to a group of lads that owned his mum Endangered Species, which was even more fitting.”

Starting from barrier two in the second race, Egerton-Green found the front easily and led all the way with Extinction, with the favourite claiming the win untouched by 6.4m in a mile rate of 2:01:5 over the 2185m.

“I always smile, even more after the one I bred won.”

    EXTINCTION REPLAY

The day started on a winning note, Dylan teamed up with Team Bond for the drive onboard New Zealand bred Fess Up (Bettors Delight) in the 2YO race, with the juvenile claiming his maiden win at his second start in a race. With just a five-horse field assembled in the opener, Fess Up NZ was able to lead from start to finish over the 2185m, staving off his rivals to win by 2.8m in 2:03:1.

    FESS UP REPLAY

With a large entourage of followers on track for the race, Miss Jodi NZ (Art Major) finally broke through for her first win after knocking on the door since arriving to WA. With 13 starts in the state, the four-year-old has only failed to finish top four just the once, but Monday was her day, as $1.14 favourite she led all the way over the 2185m to skip away by 24.2m for trainer/driver Dylan Egerton-Green.

    MISS JODI NZ REPLAY

With Aldo Cortopassi still out due to injury, Egerton-Green was given the call up for the drive aboard the Ray Williams trained Lucky Galleon NZ (American Ideal). A last start winner in December 2021 before heading out on spell, the four-year-old made his return on Monday and after starting from barrier seven in race five, Egerton-Green made his run three wide 1200m to race to the front, going on to win by 1.1m in 1:59:2 over the 2185m trip.

    LUCKY GALLEON NZ REPLAY

He rounded out his day in race six with the win on board the Skye and Greg Bond trained Might As Well NZ (Well Said) having her second start in the state and bringing up her fourth career victory in just five starts, giving the Bond stable a training double on the day. Sitting outside the leader throughout over the 2185m journey, she managed to come out on top in a thrilling finish, winning by a head in 2:00:6.

    MIGHT AS WELL NZ REPLAY

The day was a first for Egerton-Green, with the skilled horseman joking that the wins were celebrated with a cuddle, with Chloe allowing him to be the ‘big spoon’ for once.

Egerton-Green is currently six wins away from 800 career victories in the cart.
