Respected New Zealand harness racing horseman Michael House knows what it takes to prepare a good horse for a trialling sale. House prepared and sold horses like Highview Tommy, Lanercost and Kamwood Cully in New Zealand previously and will sell horses at the Ready2Run Sale at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Sunday for the first time.
House has a lot invested in his seven-strong draft with six colts and one filly making the flight from New Zealand to Sydney for the sale.
"I have planned to be a part of this sale meticulously and I'm looking forward to Sunday where I will offer the seven well bred horses for sale," House said.
"I'm feeling quite apprehensive because I have a lot invested in Sunday's sale and I think the buyers will be in the best position but all of my horses are here for sale."
House walked into a furnace on arrival in Sydney having landed on an extremely hot day.
"I think it was 41 degrees on the day we flew in but the horses handled it better than I did and they've recovered from it very well since, hopefully it is a nice warm day on Sunday and they'll be able to produce their best in the trials."
A lot of interested buyers have been in contact with House before the sale about his draft and while he has his favourite lot he is proud of each of them.
"That's the beauty of this sale, it gives you time to weed out the ones that aren't going to make it, only the best ones have been brought across.
"Fundamental is my pick, he is by Rocknroll Hanover out of NZ two year old Filly of the Year Kamwood Cully, I have planned his whole life up until this point and he is an outstanding individual, I think that much of him that I have him paid up in the Little Brown Jug."
The Ready2Run Sale will be conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Sunday. A free breakfast will be served from 8am with trials commencing at 9am. The sale will begin at 1pm.
