Ideal Success and the gelding’s harness racing trainer/driver Kerryn Manning dominated on a hot Ouyen Cup Day on Sunday.
The mercury hit the low 40s and several horses were scratched due to the heat policy, meaning Ideal Success’s odds were never going to match the Celsius figure.
In fact Ideal Success was sent out a $1.20 by punters. And he won like it.
Once he stepped well to lead from the tapes it was never in doubt.
Out in front Ideal Success was never challenged but still ran time, a 29.9 second quarter followed by an electric 27.5 third split.
The son of American Ideal out of Maheer Glen found the line in 28.3 for a 55.8 last 800m, defeating Uncle Wingnut by 7.1m with polemarker Primo Tapia third.
Ideal Success has now won both his Australian starts since joining the Manning stable at Great Western.
He's an 11-time winner from 39 starts for $95,589 in stakes.
Manning finished the day with three winners, also piloting Cashwrangs Smoker and Little Lyn to victory.
