When she won the $30,000 E. B. Cochran Cup at Ballarat, Im Ready Jet scored her eighth Group success, and she is entitled to be rated as Australia’s top trotting mare.
The daughter of Quaker Jet’s latest winning win over 2200 metres from the second line of the mobile barrier was a terrific performance.
She had only three behind her at the bell, but finally won decisively at a 1:59.3 rate including a 57.6 seconds last half.
A fortnight earlier she won the Maori Mile in a career-best 1:55.4. From 34 starts, Im Ready Jet has won 16 and been eight times placed for $298,700 in stakes.
Expensive Crumpet, another from Quaker Jet’s first Australasian crop, won her fourth race at Wyndham, New Zealand recently.
Chateaubriant, a gelding by Quaker Jet’s Haras Des Trotteurs’ studmate Used To Me, maintained his devastating form at Menangle, winning his fourth straight race inside 2:00 for the season – 1:57.4, 1:59, 1:59.2 and 1:59.9.
He has now won 10 races and $64,630.
Yankee Lover, a four-year-old mare by Love You, ended a frustrating run of minor placings with a runaway success at Melton.
On the sale front, Volstead sired the highest priced trotter and the second leading yearling at $95,000 at the Australian Pacing Gold sale at the Gold Coast.
There are 17 Volstead yearlings on offer at the 2022 Nutrien sales in Melbourne on April 3, including 12 from the Yabby Dam Farm draft, and three in APG Melbourne sale on February 6.
