Perfect Class (Captaintreacherous) broke through for a well-deserved harness racing win when he led all the way in the Breeders Crown (3YO Colts & Geldings) First Semi Final.
Mark Pitt was able to run the race to suit himself and Perfect Class was afforded a leisurely 63.6 first half of the last mile and the son of Captaintreacherous was barely extended scoring in a mile rate of 1:59.6.
Pitt said Perfect Class was in unchartered territory at the head of affairs.
āHe normally follows a helmet or has to sit outside them but tonight he was able to find the front and I had to keep his mind on the job,ā Pitt said.
CLASS ACT!
Perfect Class justifies his short price with an easy win in the first semi-final of the Woodlands Stud Lather Up Breeders Crown Series for three-year-old colts and geldings. Perfect Class had finished runner up at his previous three starts including the Victoria Derby Final.
āHe has been in all the big races and been thereabouts but it will all come down to the draw in the Final,ā he said.
Emma Stewart and Mark Pitt completed a clean sweep of the 3YO Colts & Geldings division when Oliver Dan outstayed his rivals in the Second Semi Final.
Despite sitting parked outside the leader and $1.80 favorite Dougs Platter, Oliver Dan ($2.50) forged to the lead around the home turn and staved off all challenges to score from Final Collect and Cool Night.
āHeās a tough horse and probably just a little bit underrated I think,ā Pitt said.
āThis fellow is always out there to race, every time Iāve driven him I canāt fault any of his runs,ā he said.
