Increases in APG Trotting Series Announced

The prizemoney for the Australian Pacing Gold Trotting Series has received a substantial increase, with stakes for two-year-olds in 2026 and three-year-olds in 2027 rising from the advertised $25,000 to an impressive $35,000. 

Graduates of this year’s Melbourne Yearling Sales will be eligible to compete in mixed-sex trotting races at Melton. Trotters from the Queensland and New South Wales sales will also qualify, with APG working closely with connections to explore options for travel assistance to the final in VIC. 

This Sunday, February 2, at Oaklands Junction, the Melbourne Yearling Sale will showcase a total of 9 pure trotting-bred yearlings, featuring progeny from some of the most prominent sires in trotting. Among the standout offerings are: 

• Lot 53 – A Majestic Son half-brother to Pink Galahs, the 3YO Trotting Filly of the Year and Aged Trotting Mare of the Year ($333,549). 

• Lot 24 – A Majestic Son brother to Moonshine Linda, the Breeders Crown champion and dual Vicbred Final winner ($237,820). 

• Lot 38 – An Elite Stride half-brother to the multiple Group 1 placegetter All Cashed Up ($232,216). 

• Lot 3 – A Classic Connection half-brother to Van Sank ($198,944). 

• Lot 40 – A Love You colt from Listed winner and dual Oaks placegetter Purplepeopleater, and a close relative to elite trotters such as Inter Dominion champion Buster Hanover, Danny Bouchea, Glenferrie Dreamer, Calder Sensation, and others. 

In addition to this trotting lineup, all registered in person buyers at the Melbourne sale will have the chance to win one of 10 $4,000 vouchers, generously provided by Harness Racing Victoria. These vouchers can be used toward purchasing a yearling in the 2025 sale. The draw will take place in the Oaklands Junction auditorium with the first 5 winners being drawn before Lot 1, and the remaining 5 before Lot 35. To be eligible for the vouchers you must be officially registered as a buyer and be present in the auditorium at the time of the draw. Any unclaimed vouchers will be redrawn, and all vouchers are non-transferable.
