The 2022 Inter Dominion (ID22) Pacing and Trotting Championships will feature a new ranking system, devised by the Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) handicapping team.
The new system has been developed to provide a more transparent and categoric process for ranking ID22 entrants, thus determining which horses participate in the ID22 qualifying heats.
Horses shall be ranked in the following descending order:
Pacers
a) Winners of any Australian or New Zealand Grand Circuit race
b) Winners of open age Australian and New Zealand Group 1 races, excluding races restricted by class or sex, from 1 January 2021
c) Winners of any of the following races:
- Westburn Grant Free For All (13/8/22)
- Minuteman Free For All (3/9/22)
- Kilmore Pacing Cup (23/9/22)
- Geelong Pacing Cup (22/10/22)
d) horses with NR 110 or higher based on prizemoney earnt from midnight 26 November 2021 (min $40,000)
e) remaining horses based on prizemoney earnt from midnight 26 November 2021
Trotters
a) Winners of any Australian or New Zealand Trotting Masters race
b) Winners of open age Australian and New Zealand Group 1 races, excluding races restricted by class or sex, from 1 January 2021.
c) Winners of any of the following races:
- Wagon Apollo Free For All (30/7)
- The George Gath (2/9)
- Chris Howe Trotters Free For All (1/10)
- True Roman Trotters Free For All (21/10)
d) horses with NR 110 or higher based on prizemoney earnt from midnight 26 November 2021 (min $30,000)
e) remaining horses based on prizemoney earnt from midnight 26 November 2021
Updated rankings ladders will be developed and published on HRVās online channels once nominations have closed.
āThe HRV handicapping team have developed this system, which provides greater transparency for participants, punters and fans around the ID22 rankings,ā HRV General Manager ā Racing Stephen Bell said.
The first round of ID22 heats will be held at Ballaratās Bray Raceway on Saturday, November 26, before the series heads to Shepparton for Heat Night 2 on Tuesday, November 29.
The final round of qualifiers, Heat Night 3, will be conducted at Geelongās Beckley Park on Saturday, December 3, with Finalsā night at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday, December 10.
