Introducing Dimitri Ferm

in Australia

Let me introduce myself.

I am Dimitri Ferm – an Italian-based French-bred 6yo trotting entire racing in elite company in Europe.

Dimitri Ferm

I’m keen for Australians to get to know me and follow my path towards what will hopefully culminate in a start in the Prix De Amerique race at Vincennes in Paris on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

I am a son of Italy’s leading trotting sire Nad Al Sheba and out of Tracy Chapman Fra (Goetmals Wood Fra).

Born at the “Ferm Farm” near Turin in Northern Italy and raised by my owner Cesare Canavesio, I am trained by Mauro Baroncini.

Cesare already has close ties with Australia, also being the owner Yabby Dam Farms-based broodmare Alegria Dream Ca (Andover Hall US), which has a Quaker Jet Fra colt going to next year’s Melbourne Nutrien Equine yearling sale.

I enjoyed my early years at the foothills of the Dolomites mountain range, enjoying the lush green pastures of the “Ferm Farm”.

I excelled as a 3yo, winning the 2022 $800,000 Derby del Trotto (Italian Derby), 2100m, in Rome.

That was my 11th win from 19 starts and fourth group 1 at that point of my career.

I’ve gone on to do a lot of racing in France, taking my earnings to $A1.366m.

I haven’t raced a great deal this year, but three of my past four starts have been seconds to Joshua Tree at Vincennes, including the Group 1 Prix Bold Eagle.

My latest outing was a second in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Laurent.

But my story won’t end here. Stay tuned for more to come…
