The Pangrazio family have had outstanding success with harness racing youngsters from the famed Maori Miss family in the past decade, headed by triple Group 1 winner Moonshine Linda.
Michael and Neville Pangrazio bred Moonshine Linda (Tr1.55.7, $237K) in 2014 from their good trotting mare Maori Sunshine and she went on to win Victorian 2YO filly of the year and Australian 3YO filly of the year in 2018.
In 2023, Shesawish (Tr1.57.6, $114K) had a cracking 3YO season, winning six races including the $50,000 Vicbred Home Grown 3YO trot fillies final.
She finished runner-up in the NSW Trotters Oaks and the Vicbred 3YO Trotting fillies final.
Prince Of Rock (1.57.2, $129K) also had a great 3YO campaign in 2023, winning the 3YO colts sales classic final and finishing second in the Victoria Trotters Derby.
Shesawish and Prince Of Rock are from the Maori Trump line of the family that has produced Noopy Kiosk (Tr2.00.6, $320K) and Sumthingaboutmaori (Tr2,00.8, $461K).
The Pangrazios have continued to follow a tried-and-true formula, offering five regally bred yearlings from the Maori Miss family at the 2025 APG Melbourne Yearling Sale on February 2.
Considering the phenomenonal success in 2024 of superstar filly Keayang Zahara, who is unbeaten in 14 starts – eight of the Group 1 classics – there should be buyers queuing up for these youngsters.
Keayang Zahara traces back to the Maori Glory line of the family and could well become as famous as her illustrious ancestor Maori’s Idol, who won 40 races in the mid-1970s.
The first Pangrazio offering is Lot 15, by Elite Stride from unraced Crazed mare Lu Lu Lola, whose dam is a half sister to Majestic Maori, dam of nine winners.
This line of the family has produced Moonshine Linda and 2YO and 3YO Aust trotter of the year Danny Bouchea (Tr1.59.9, $326K).
Lot 24 is a full brother to champion filly Moonshine Linda.
Lot 47 is a filly by Elite Stride from Angus Hall mare Severe Storm, a half sister to Prince Of Rock and the dam of Shesawish.
Lot 53 is a colt by Majestic Son from Sweetasay, who is the dam of 2020 3YO trotting filly of the year Pink Galahs (Tr1.54.2, $333K), who won six Group 1 races as a 3YO and 4YO.
Sweetasay’s grandam, Maori Glory won multiple Group 1 races as a 4YO and was named Australian trotter of the year in 1992.
This leg of the family has also produced top free-for-all trotter Vincennes (1.56.3, $266K).
The third youngster in the dazzling trio is Lot 55, a filly by Pastor Stephen from five-time winner Tequila Bree (Tr2.4.4, $36K), who is a half sister to Moonshine Linda.
In all, the Pangrazios will offer 10 yearlings at the Melbourne sale – six trotters and four pacers.
In keeping with tradition, the family sent all their pacing bred mares to stallions that were bred and raced in Australia.
They also have a filly, Lot 21, from boom sire Poster Boy, who sired 23 2YO winners from his first crop in 2024, from eight-time winner Major Sea (1.56, $68K).
There are two yearlings by The Storm Inside and one by Soho Tribeca. Both stallions had excellent results with their first crops in 2024.
