Victorian trained colt Jack’s Ultimate Fury (Bettor’s Delight) ran up to his heat win by decisively winning the $100,000 Group 2 Llowalong Farms Gold Chalice Final for three year old colts and geldings at Bathurst last night.

In an action pack event Jack’s Ultimate Fury was caught three and four wide early before harness racing driver David Moran was able to secure the one out and one back trail.
Hesitate who can be unreliable was on his best behaviour as he held out the field last night to clearly lead.
However favourite Its Confidential was one out further back and as the field tightened up he was severely checked and was put out of the race.
Once in front it appeared that Hesitate would win as he was perfectly rated by Luke McCarthy.

But Moran was able to ease out Jack’s Ultimate Fury on the final bend and he set sail in hot pursuit of Hesitate. In a driving finish Jack’s Ultimate Fury well timed run was too strong for Hesitate and he scored by under three metres with Seathestars appearing to have every chance in third.
The win for trainer Russell Jack made up for the interference suffered by stable mate Its Confidential.
Fox Dan who was caught very wide early and was forced back to the rear of the field weaved his way through the pack for a fast finishing fourth while Mac Bon who was severely checked was a close fifth.
Raced by Mick Boots, Jack’s Ultimate Fury has now had eight wins from 12 starts and the black gelding has the makings of a very promising pacer. The win also consolidated the success of both Moran and Jack. Moran has now driven 22 Group 1 winners while Jack now has 8 Group 1 successes to his name.
