Leading trainer Jason Grimson can now claim a Carousel success after his highly promising colt Our Sweet Delight (Sweet Lou) showed his rivals a clean pair of heels in the $30,600 Carousel Final at Menangle on Saturday evening.

Grimson had a strong hand in the final as in last week’s heats he won three of the four heats with Our Sweet William, Tuapeka Lou and Miki Cohen.
Although each of the heat winners were impressive, Our Sweet William looked the best and driver Cameron Hart made the correct decision to drive him instead of the others.
OUR SWEET WILLIAM SEP 20 REPLAY
Confidently backed into a hot favourite Our Sweet William was able to cross the leader Classic Elegance whose driver Brad Hewitt was content to take the trail.
However once in front, Our Sweet Delight looked to be cruising and the others behind him were beginning to struggle. Classic Elegance tried to issue a challenge on straightening but Our Sweet Delight neatly stepped into another gear and he was coasting to win by just over three metres from the fast finishing Red Sapphire who came from well back in the field with Classic Elegance in third.

Grimson expressed his satisfaction at winning the Carousel.
“It’s definitely good to win this. It’s obviously a very prestigious race and yeah it’s an honour to win it. It’s quite hard to win and a good horse always wins it so hopefully this fellow can go on with it.”
Explaining how he obtained Our Sweet Delight from owner Tony Turpin, Grimson added “Every time I got out there I saw him and he’s such a beautiful horse and I said I’d take him if they wanted to get rid of him and I’m good mates with Tony. He’s a legend of a bloke. They sent him down.”
“He’s a beautiful horse and hopefully he keeps improving.”
“Speaking with Cam afterwards he said he was jogging and did it so easily. The Victoria Derby is the plan. We’ll give him a trial before just to tick him over.”
It was a big night for Grimson as he brought up his 500th Australian career training win with Our Sweet Delight.
Asked about the effort he stated “It’s pretty exciting. I suppose the most memorable was the first New Zealand Cup as its so hard to win and then his second New Zealand Cup for all the travel. So now I hope to get 500 winners at Club Menangle.”
It was also another memorable night for Hart. He scored with Dom Toretto (Sweet Lou) for trainer Chris Judd and then later on won the Trotters Carousel for Joe and Mary Rando with their consistent winning trotter Familiar Tricks (Used to Me).
