A Potential buyer could have enjoyed a quick return on his or her investment after short course harness racing specialist Jillibyjacksparrow (Captaintreacherous) led all the way over the 1720 metre trip in the Hyland Racing Colours Pace at Melton.

The Paddy Lee trained pacer was on the market for $30,000.

Leading from his inside alley, Jillibyjacksparrow ($3.20 fav) threw a slick 26.7 last 400 metres at his rivals holding a two metre margin on the line over Nonparriel and Platinum Stride.

Driver Glen Craven said the winner had been well managed by the team at Levarg Racing.

“The team at home have worked wonders with this horse as he’s had a few issues but he just loves racing and racing in front over the short trip,” Craven said.

“They had him as sharp as a tack tonight and he kicked on really well at the end,” he said.

Craven said the five-year-old has the ability to relax in his races.

“He’s such a great racehorse- he’s won all those races over the 1200 by ripping off the gate and   then backing off the second quarter,” he said.

“The same thing happened tonight, he was able to back off and get the breather and use his speed at the finish

He just relaxes so well and gets a good bit of air into his lungs, he’s an unreal short course racehorse.”
