Monday October 25th will be a day junior harness racing driver Nick Brown won’t forget in a hurry.
Brown scored his first ever double in the cart when he won on the Phil Westbury-trained pair Giftedfromtheheart in race 2 and then made it a running double with Giant Jackson in the following event at Globe Derby.
Brown, 18, had previously only driven two winners since commencing driving two years ago. His last winner was on board Lord Chancellor, trained by Nick’s mum Peta.
Browns double sent most punters reeling because as much as 150 to 1 was bet on fixed odds on the tote on both Giftedfromtheheart and Giant Jackson.
The day turned out to be a day of doubles with Dani Hill scoring a double with the Jill Neilson pair Opinionated and the trotter Lovelorn both owned and bred by Geoff Easom’s Wyndown Stud.
David Smith drove a double on board Ready To Rock and Summerdays and not to be outdone by his dad, Michael A Smith won the final two races on the program with the Shane Loone trained pair Lets Get Shorty and thirteen-year-old Bein Hoa.
