“Just For Josh”

The harness racing community has gathered around to support one of their own in horseman Josh Powderly.

Josh Powderly.

The 42-year-old mentor was involved in a workplace accident in January whilst working for his electrical and solar instillation business, fell through the roof suffering severe spinal injuries.

The early prognosis is that Josh will never walk again and his family and the harness racing fraternity are right by his side.

So much so, fundraisers have been held to help the Powderly family and during Bathurst’s Gold Crown Carnival the “Just For Josh” fundraiser will be held.

Co-sponsored by the Bathurst Harness Racing Club and the Breeders Voice, there are a number of prizes on offer for those that purchase a ticket.

This includes a service to The Storm Inside that has been donated by Alabar Bloodstock according to The Breeders Voice committee member Joanne Andersen.

“Josh is one of our founding members at The Breeders Voice and his accident hit us pretty hard,” said Andersen.

“He’s such a good person and we can’t imagine what he is going through.

“He’s one of our own so we thought lets dig in and see what we can do for him and his family.

“The Bathurst Harness Racing Club support a charity each Gold Crown Carnival and they were more than happy to support our fundraiser this year that we’ve called Just For Josh, a monster raffle that will be drawn on Gold Crown night.

“Hopefully we get some good support.

“Alabar have donated a service to The Storm Inside, who is bred on the same cross as King Of Swing, and that will be auctioned off at the Bathurst Gold Yearling Sale.”
