Tiger Tara colt King Tiger kept his unbeaten record in tact at harness racing’s Newcastle track on Monday (Jul. 11).
The three-year-old had his first look over the 2030m journey and found his way to the front with driver Josh Gallagher and remained there.
King Tiger was having his fourth start and recorded a mile rate of 1:56.6, extending by five metres over his rivals.
It was only in October last year King Tiger made his race debut at the same venue where he clocked a scintillating 1:53.9.
Trainer Kevin Pizzuto plans to nurse King Tiger throughout this juvenile preparation.
“I just want to look after him, he is a very serious horse,” Pizzuto said.
“There are races like the Breeders Challenge for him and at the moment I just want to race him through his grades.”
KING TIGER REPLAY
Pizzuto owns King Tiger and bred him from his stallion Tiger Tara.
Tiger Tara is standing at Medowie Lodge this breeding season.
“In good news, this year Tiger Tara’s frozen semen will be available to New Zealand,” Pizzuto said.
