Capable four year old Kingman (Always B Miki) having his first start for Luke McCarthy could not have been more impressive with a blistering all the way harness racing win in the TNS Ground Works Pace at Menangle Park on Saturday evening.

In one of the most devastating wins ever seen of late at Menangle, Kingman was not the fastest out early but soon after the field settled down McCarthy allowed the entire to stride around the field to eventually take the lead from Alta Magician with just over a lap to travel.
Vite Monet which was considered to be the only danger to Kingman looked for a one out and one back trail but once Kingman went to the front he was left to race outside the leader and the task was always going to be difficult.
Kingman started to clear away on the final bend and so fast did he accelerate he put a huge space between himself and his rivals. Vite Monet battled on gamely to finish just under 35 metres behind Kingman with Bartello a further six metres away in third.
KINGMAN JUL 26 REPLAY
Kingman ran 1.52.1 for the mile including his last two quarters in 26.8 and 27.4 seconds.
Kingman is raced by his breeder Mick Harvey who previously had him stabled with Emma Stewart. He’s had a widely travelled career racing in all of the Eastern seaboard states. His best win to date was the Tasmanian Derby last November when he led all the way. Kingman now has 27 starts for 9 wins and over $157,000 in stake money.

Harvey also raced Kingman’s dam Gotta Go Dali Queen who raced for Matt Craven in winning eight races. Kingman is the first of her progeny to race but there will be interest in a yearling colt by King of Swing.
The manner of which Kingman won at Menangle would suggest that he’ll go through the classes and he has shown that he is capable of running a very fast mile as well as being a more than handy stayer.
