Promising juvenile Komodo (Fear The Dragon) produced a devastating finale to grab harness racing victory in the $40,000 Alabar Vicbred Platinum Home Grown Classic Final (2YO Colts & Geldings) at Melton.

The Aaron Dunn trained youngster came from last with 400 metres to go, unleashing a paralyzing sprint out six horses wide down the home straight grabbing the lead in the shadows of the post.

On the line Komodo ($1.90 fav) held the margin of a neck over Magomedov with Vincent Grange three metres away third.

“He’s a quick little horse,” Dunn said.

“I probably drove him different to how I normally do but I was still happy at the top of the straight,” he said.

Dunn indicated the son of Fear The Dragon could be Derby bound next season.

“I might throw him on the float and head up to NSW for the Derby – hopefully Bondi Lockdown is coming back for the Miracle Mile, so it will be nice to be up there around it at the same time,” he said.

“He was sharper tonight as he was a little bit lazy the other night in the heat.”

Dunn explained how he paired his mare Azgoodazz with the stallion Fear The Dragon.

“I’ve got a bloke who picks them out a bit for me and they had a $2000 lottery for Fear The Dragon,  so instead of paying $6000 I paid $2000 and he’s turned out a cheap one,” he said.
