Next month’s Ladyship Mile is quickly developing into a stellar harness racing clash.
With Australia’s darling Frith and New Zealand’s mighty mare Adore Me confirmed starters in the Group One, the hype surrounding the feature is growing by the day.
The time-honoured event is scheduled to be run at Tabcorp Park Menangle on March 1 – Inter Dominion day.
Adore Me secured her invitation by taking out the Queen of Hearts in Auckland, while Frith stepped up to the challenge when winning the Ranji Bill at Menangle a fortnight ago.
Other mares which have qualified for the Ladyship Mile are Majorly Foxy Styx (Mares’ Classic at Gloucester Park and Ladyship Cup at Melton); Pas Ultimate Delight (Teeny Teeny Stakes at Menangle); Beauty Secret (Robin Dundee at Menangle) and Pemberton Shard (Mares’ Championship at Addington).
The conditions of the race then dictate the balance of the field is selected from mares which competed in qualifiers held in New South Wales, decided on finishing positions.
The second-placings will then be ranked on individual finishing times, and if there is still a tie, overall finishing positions in all New South Wales qualifying races.
Saturday night’s Sibelia Stakes is the final opportunity to guarantee a berth in the $200,000 sprint.
