Well bred four year old mare Rose of Clare (Lazarus) continued her impressive form taking her third win in a row when she scored an effortless all the way harness racing win in the Hoist Torque Mobile Pace at Gloucester Park on Tuesday evening.
Sent out a prohibitive favourite on the strength of her previous two wins Rose of Clare had a spirited early battle with Iwill Never Know before settling in front. Once in the lead driver Stuart McDonald rated the mare to perfection and running her last quarter in a leisurely 30.2 seconds had plenty to spare from The Swindler and Cara Diana who both finished well without ever looking likely to trouble the winner.
Rose of Clare is the first of Lazarus’s initial New Zealand bred crop of 18 youngsters of which 16 have qualified and 10 have greeted the winners circle.

She is out the more than handy Washington VC mare Askmenow who was bred by Syd and Shona Brown in New Zealand but found her way to Australia eventually winning 10 races and 12 placings from 49 appearances and with a personal best of 1.54.1 which she achieved at Pinjarra.
Her connections then took her back to New Zealand and three of her previous progeny who have since raced have all won, namely Foregone Conclusion (Art Major), Scarlett Ribbon (Captaintreacherous) and Captain Bligh (Captaintreacherous).
ROSE OF CLARE AUG 12 REPLAY
Rose Of Clare who is the latest progeny from Askmenow then travelled to Western Australia where she is now raced by local Ashleigh Reeves and trained by her husband Hayden Reeves.
A striking bay mare Rose of Clare has a long way to go but she has made the best start possible and her future is assured even when she finishes racing as she has the attributes and breeding to make a top broodmare.
