Brilliant four-year-old Leap To Fame (Bettor’s Delight) enhanced his harness racing status as a world class pacer when he made a class field of three and four- year- olds look second rate in the Group 1 $350,000 The Rising Sun at Albion Park tonight (Jul. 8).

Leap To Fame wrested the lead off My Ultimate Ronnie with a lap to travel and when trainer driver Grant Dixon glanced around to see how his rivals were travelling around the home turn it was time to release the brakes.

Within metres,  Leap To Fame quickly put a sizeable gap on the opposition and Dixon allowed his stable star to cruise to the line with a margin of 12 metres to his nearest rival Rocknroll Hammer in a mile rate of 1:52.0.

Dixon said he had cause for optimism when he secured the lead with a lap to travel.

“He was strong on the bit at that point a lap out and at that point I was fairly confident,” Dixon said.

“Yeah, it was great and it’s amazing how well he went and how well he hit the line, I’m super proud of him,” he said.

Dixon admitted the son of Bettors Delight appeared to be travelling well within himself in the home stretch.

“With the sectionals he was running he was going at a fair clip but he did go through the line fairly comfortably, it was quite a relief that he did it so well,” he said.

While Leap To Fame will start a short priced favorite in the Group 1 Blacks A Fake in a fortnight, Dixon didn’t rule out a potential outing in next Saturday’s Group 1 Sunshine Sprint.

“We’ll see how he pulls up and discuss it with his owners Kevin and Kay Seymour and go from there,” he said.

The win completed a feature race double for the broodmare Lettucereason who is also the dam of Swayzee, an impressive winner of the Group 3 Mr Feelgood Pace earlier in the night.
