Top harness racing reinsman Nathan Jack has declared Lochinvar Art (Modern Art) over the line in Saturday night’s (Aug. 20) Hylands My Lightning Blue Free For All at Melton.
Jack dropped some stunning comments during an episode of Burning Questions, telling host Jason Bonnington the Rodney Lakey-trained superstar would be winning his first start since February.
“Is he a moral?” asked Bonnington.
“Yes,” said Jack.
Jack, who hasn’t driven the horse since his very first race start all the way back in April 2018, also described how he thought the race would pan out.
Lochinvar Art will start from outside the back row in the 1720m sprint feature, but Jack isn’t concerned that the draw will bring about his undoing.
“I think we’ve still got to drive him like the best horse in the race,” Jack told Burning Questions.
“Once they settle, he’ll probably be on the march.
“Probably the best way to get them beat is to not do that. It’s just to sit back, they are going to get home hard and then you get wide off the track and you’re in trouble.
“He’s the best horse in the race, I’ve got no doubt. And everyone knows that.
“If he’d only had the one trial and come here (to Melton), I would have been sitting on the fence, but his last trial really impressed me and he felt like the star that he is, and I think there’ll be no stopping him.”
Lochinvar Art, a seven-time Group 1 winner and the reigning two-time Victorian Horse of the Year, was $1.60 to claim the My Lightning Blue FFA with the TAB on Friday at 2.30pm.
