A Group 1 harness racing success in start number two is what the New South Wales-trained Lotus Louise (Volstead) will be chasing ahead of his appearance in Saturday night’s Always Ready Vicbred Super Series final for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Melton Entertainment Park.
The KerryAnn Morris-trained squaregaiter ventured outside New South Wales for the first time for his debut run in the Vicbred heat on September 4 at Maryborough.

āHe has pulled up really well and headed straight back home (NSW) after Maryborough,ā KerryAnn said.
āWe were wrapped with the way he handled everything.
āHe has handled the run and the travel very well, and he will head back to Melbourne tomorrow (September 12). We have always thought that he had a bit of ability.ā
Lotus Louise has drawn one for the 2240m event with Robert Morris set to pilot the two-year-old.
āSometimes one isnāt the best draw, especially for baby trotters, there is a lot of things for him to look out for at Melton,ā she said.
āWe are not going to knock it back (the draw) ā One is a very good draw, and we hope he is on his best behaviour.ā
The gelding by Volsted is set to return to Victoria for the October 12, Group 1 Redwood Classic.
āWe are going to hopefully bring him back for the Redwood at this stage,ā she said. āWe are going to aim for some of those bigger races down there (Victoria) at the end of the year.ā
