Love You gelding on cups trail

The Love You gelding Central Otago has stamped himself as a genuine candidate for the Victorian country cups harness racing circuit this year.

Love You

The five-year-old has won his only two appearances this season – both inside 2:00 – and pushed his stake earnings to almost $90,000. At the Shepparton Cup meeting, Central Otago led from the outset and peeled off the last two quarters in 28 and 28.6 to leave his rivals gasping for breath.

Central Otago highlighted another huge week for Love You – on both sides of the Tasman.

Other winners by the champion sire were Love Gun, who scored in runaway fashion at Yarra Valley, Robbinmemates (Kilmore) and, in New Zealand, two ‘new’ winners in Conrad H (Cambridge Raceway) and Spells Of Love (Nelson) and the repeat winner Mad Jack (Winton).

SPELLS OF LOVE REPLAY

Quaker Jet, the richest son of Love You, weighed in with a pair of winners in Atout (Globe Derby Park) and Mum’s Jewel, who overcame a 10 metre handicap to score at Cambridge Raceway.

Meanwhile, Inter Dominion-winning sire Orlando Vici weighed in with the Globe Derby victor Orlando’s Gift, his seventh success so far.

Love You, Quaker Jet and Orlando Vici are part of the Haras Des Trotteurs’ sire roster near Ballarat, Victoria.
