The brave, fighting win of Ultimate Stride in the Group 3 Bendigo Trotters Cup on Friday night (April 28) put an exclamation mark on a brilliant week for champion harness racing sire Love You.

Ultimate Stride, who sat parked throughout and carved out a flying 58.6 seconds last 800 in beating a top field, lifted his earnings beyond the $250,000 plateau, the result of 15 wins and four placings from 35 starts.

The following night the highly promising four-year-old Aroha Koe hoisted a fresh lifetime mark of 1:57 as he toyed with his rivals at Melton.

Other recent Love You winners have been That’s What We Do and the three-year-old She’s Gold, who both scored at Auckland, Nakedtruth (Kilmore), Loye Ya Brother, a winner at Horsham and Mount Gambier, and Lovelorn (Globe Derby Park).

Love You is in third position on the NZ all aged list and fourth in Australia.

Quaker Jet, the richest son of Love You, also enjoyed a successful week. His winners included Hillside, who made it two from two this season at Shepparton and the NZ winners Bennie And The Jets (Addington) and Quik Sharnie (Cambridge Raceway).

Meanwhile, the top percentage sire Used To Me was represented by Abitofadreamer, who posted his seventh lifetime success at Charlton.

Love You, Quaker Jet and Used To Me are members of the Ballarat-based Haras Des Trotteurs’ sire roster.
