In harness racing there are not many better feelings than a Group 1 victory.
However Queensland trainer-driver Trent Dawson went above and beyond that at Albion Park on Saturday night (Aug. 20).
The 36-year-old horseman saluted with a Group 1 double in the QBRED Triad Finals.
Dawson produced a front-running drive on For A Reason colt For Real Life to win the QBRED Triad Final for the two-year-old boys.
For Real Life only had eight starts prior to this victory and clocked a personal best 1:55.2 to win the $103,990 feature.
FOR REAL LIFE REPLAY
Dawson only had to wait two races to taste Group 1 victory again.
This time it was with his Bettor’s Delight filly Magical Maya who won the QBRED Triad Final for the three-year-old fillies.
Magical Maya led throughout the $106,090 feature in a mile rate of 1:55.8.
This gave owners Kevin and Kay Seymour the quinella in the lucrative race with their other filly Racy Roxy (Mr Feelgood) finishing second.
MAGICAL MAYA REPLAY
Dawson has now won three Group 1 races in his career with his first win at that level obtained in last yearās QBRED Triad Final with Talent To Spare.
