The first crop of the brilliant Art Major horse Major Bronski are now yearlings and they really look the part.
Geoff Dodd, a part-owner of the stallion, has two yearlings by him; a half-sister to Stormont Czar 1:52.7 ($70,418) and a colt out of the Courage Under Fire mare Sarum Princess.
“They are both lovely types who bear a strong resemblance to their sire,” Dodd said. “I couldn’t be happier with the one’s I’ve got. I’m looking forward to breaking them in.”
Major Bronski served 15 mares in his first season in Queensland in 2013.
Last season he covered 97 mares in his first commercial season at Steve and Ann O’Donoghue’s Morley Park, Shepparton. This represented the second highest total of a colonial bred first-season sire in Victoria in 2014.
Major Bronski won 13 of his 24 starts including a heat of the Victoria Derby (beating For A Reason) and heats of the Australian Pacing Gold as a two and three-year-old before a training accident forced his early retirement.
He is out of the classic-winning Fake Left mare Bronski Gorgeous ($210,622), the dam of five sub 2:00 performers from six foals of racing age. Bronski Gorgeous ranks as a half-sister to the 3YO of the Year Sir Galvinator ($516,723).
Major Bronski stands for a $1,250 fee including GST.
