Outstanding race mare Major Delight (Betters Delight) showed she is ready to take the baton from Ladies In Red as the premier harness racing mare in Australia with an impressive win in the $30,600 Norms Daughter Stakes at Menangle.

Sent out a $1.75 favorite, Major Delight was forced to sit parked outside the leader My Moonlite Dream who attempted to steal a winning break around the home turn.
Major Delight though wasn’t to be denied and the Emma Stewart prepared four-year-old drove at My Moonlite Dream over the concluding stages to get the verdict by a head in the slick mile rate of 1:50.3.
Promising young reinswoman Ashleigh Delosa who has now partnered Major Delight in her past three wins, said she was always confident of victory.
“She still felt pretty good around the home turn when the leader tried to kick away,” Delosa said.
“Even when it was getting close near the line I wasn’t too worried as she had her ears pricked,” she said.
Delosa said the win was the most impressive of her three victories on Major Delight.
“She had to do it tough going 1:50.0 and she seems to be getting better,” she said.
Major Delight is now building an imposing career record of 22 wins from 27 starts and has banked more than $684,000 in prize money.
