Mammoth day ahead for top NSW harness racing driver

One winner is regarded as a disappointing night for star Sydney harness racing reinsman Cameron Hart these days.

And while he did score one of the most impressive wins at Tabcorp park Menangle on Saturday night with improving pacer Hi Manameisjeff (Art Major), Hart is set for a mammoth day at the south-western Sydney track this afternoon.

Hart will partner as many as four favourites on the eight-race program and should have little problem adding to his tally of 158 winners so far this season.

Hart described his Saturday night winner Hi Manameisjeff as “super impressive”.

“He has good strength and good speed and he just loves to get out in front and roll along,” said the 24-year-old reinsman.

“Most people know he’ll run strong sectionals and everyone gets their chance.”

Hart’s first drive this afternoon is the reliable Melpark Magic in Race 2, who has a good record with Hart on board and has scored over this course and distance.

Hart admitted a loyalty to the Jarrod Alchin stable often made his decision on which horse to drive in a race an easy one.

While he probably could have driven several runners in Race 3, his association with Alchin sees him take the steer aboard unraced two-year-old filly Our Ultimate Luka.

Hart has tested this filly in three Menangle trials for two wins and a second to Belinda McCarthy’s three-year-old Where Back.

Favourably drawn in gate one today, the filly looks hard to hold out.

The star reinsman then goes from an unraced youngster to an ‘old head’ when he links with veteran pacer Ultimate Ad in Race 4.

With 209 starts already under his belt, the eight-year-old had three successive second placings at Menangle before a disappointing sixth behind Skye Mary Mac at Goulburn last week.
