Harness racing’s former New Zealand Horse of the Year Auckland Reactor, who is standing this season at the new Glen Alvie Stud, Undera (Vic.), of experienced horsewoman Crystal Peacock, sired a quinella at Menangle last Saturday night (Oct. 8).
Jazzy Star, a NZ bred gelding, took full advantage of a pocket trip to cut down Reactor Now in the shadows of the post.
The time for the 1609 metres on a rain-sodden track was a brilliant 1:51.6.
Jazzy Star, who has clocked three sub 1:52 miles, has now won 12 races and $143,008 in stakes.
Auckland Reactor sired a pair of ānewā winners last weekend in The Ringmaster (Bathurst) and the three-year-old filly Take My Wallet NZ, a runaway winner after sitting parked in 1:57.7 at Globe Derby Park. She looks a very smart youngster.
Auckland Reactor has sired 95 individual winners in Australia this season and progeny earnings of $1.77 million. In NZ he has 21 winners for $370,000.
