Jarrod Alchin could potentially have the biggest night of his career at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night when he heads to the state’s harness racing headquarters with seven runners.
Alchin describes his bevvy of talented pacers as “one of the best teams he has ever taken to a race meeting.”
Highlighted by the five pacers he has engaged in the four Group 1 finals of the Australian Pacing Gold Bullion for the two and three year olds, Alchin is confident that all his runners can get amongst the rich prizemoney on offer.
“Collectively, there is no doubt that this is the best team of horses I have ever taken to the races on one night,” said Alchin.
“If I had to single one of them out as my best for the night, it would be My Ultimate Snowy in the two-year-old colts and geldings’ final.”
“He has been impressive from the time he first stepped out, winning at his only three starts and his chances on Saturday night have been bolstered after drawing so well.”
Alchin has Madrid contesting the three-year-old filles final and Most Triumphant the two- year-old fillies’ final and will be represented by promising duo, My Ultimate Byron, and My Ultimate Levi in the three-year-old colts and geldings feature, which has drawn together a class field.
“I am looking forward to the clash between Byron and Gold Chalice winner Ripp,” said Alchin.
“It is a big test for both pacers, who are likely to become fierce rivals in feature races during the season.
“I have a lot of respect for Ripp’s ability, and I would be foolish to take him lightly.
“Madrid has drawn wide in her final (gate 10), but she possesses high gate speed and should be able to cross and lead.
“If that happens, she is the one to beat.
“From a good draw, Most Triumphant also appears to be a strong each-way chance in her race.”
Alchin has Justa Little Bit and Delightful Dude engaged is supporting races and he believes that both are winning chances from good barrier draws.
Tonight’s eight-race program at Penrith begins at 6:22pm, the TAB Long May We Play Pace, which is an open affair while Cherishthememories is favoured to win the feature race, the Cliff Conlan Memorial.
