Exciting youngster Miss Idaho (Ultimate Machete) has been sent for a well-earned break.

Capping off her phenomenal harness racing season with a Youthful Stake victory in Melton on Saturday night, Miss Idaho will spend “as long as possible” in a paddock.

Though he is rapt with the two-year-old’s win, South Australian trainer Ryan Hryhorec stated Miss Idaho’s performance confirmed she is ready for a spell.

“The plan was always to give her a break after Melton,” Hryhorec said. “She was pretty much ready after the Southern Cross last week, but the race in Melton looked like a good option, plus it was a chance to pick up her Vicbred bonus.

“Watching her from home, I thought she was in trouble at the 400-metre mark and she didn’t quite let down like she can, so she’s had enough.

“The fact she won is a credit to her as she got the job done.

“I’ll talk it over with her owner, but she will be out for as long as possible before we aim at the main races for her age next season.”

Driven by expat South Australian Kate Gath, Miss Idaho enjoyed the ideal one-one trip from barrier five as Jumpingjoy led and Freeasabyrd worked in the ‘death seat’.

Proving too good along the home straight, the daughter of Ultimate Machete scored by a metre from Our Ultimate Grace, with Jumpingjoy a half-head away third.

Rating 1:56.7 over 1720 metres, Miss Idaho took her record to an impeccable seven wins and a debut second from eight starts for owner Frank Borg.
