The first crop of the brilliant, young Captaintreacherous horse Catch The Fire 1:46.8 ($1.5m), who is standing this season at the Somerset Farms stud, of Pete and Chantal McMullen, continue to impress in North America.
Two of his progeny, Cruisinoverfire (1:59.6) and My First Fire (1:59.8), won qualifying trials at Scioto Downs, Ohio on Monday afternoon (June 10). Both clocked their final quarters in 27.6 seconds.
Cruisinoverfire is a gelding out of a Yankee Cruiser mare, while My First Fire is a colt from a mare by Dragon Again.
Catch The Fire, the fastest entire son of Captaintreacherous, has already been represented by 13 qualifiers from his first foal crop of 50 – an amazing 26 percent strike rate – with the two-year-old season less than a fortnight old.
Meanwhile, Catch The Fireās studmate A Rocknroll Dance produced the Melton winner Jaccka Connor, who came from near last to win at a 1:57.2 rate over 2240 metres, and A Fair Ol Dance, who clocked 1:50.6 winning at Pocono Downs, Pennsylvania.
A Rocknroll Dance has jumped into seventh position on the All Aged list with 107 individual winners and $1.96million IĀ progeny earnings.
