It was his Grand Final for the season and Sweet Lou gelding Never Ending delivered in harness racing’s $150,000 Golden Slipper at Gloucester Park on Friday night (Sep. 30).
The two-year-old led from start to finish to claim his third Group 1 victory in-a-row and remain unbeaten in his six starts.
Driven by Gary Hall Jnr, Never Ending clocked a personal best 1:55.1 in the process too.
When Harnesslink caught up with trainer Justin Prentice prior to the race he stated: “First up he couldn’t have gone any better, we asked a lot of him and pulled the ear plugs,” said Prentice.
“Ever since then the ear plugs have not been pulled.”
With this recent success the ear plugs were released as Never Ending held off Skylord (Fly Like An Eagle) by more than three metres and Lusaka (Sweet Lou) who was another metre away in third.
NEVER ENDING REPLAY
This win gave Prentice his third straight victory in the feature.
It also gave the 34-year-old mentor his 25th Group 1 win.
As for Sweet Lou, he is the leading two-year-old stallion in Australia this season. He is ranked amongst the top 10 stallions in the country for the year as well.
