The stocks of the Newcastle-based Medowie Lodge’s new sire Follow The Stars received a massive boost with the results of last weekend’s racing in Western Australia.
Follow The Stars, the former NZ and Australian 2YO Colt of the Year, was represented by five winners including a quinella at Gloucester Park and a treble at Northam on Friday night (July 2).
At Gloucester Park the Follow The Stars pair Our Star Billing and Black Jack Baby ($188,497) quinellaed the three-year-old fillies’ race with the former notching her third success.
On the same night at Northam, Follow The Star produced the quinella pair in the two-year-old with Dustyroads and Regimental Star and another quinella with the three-year-old Make It Quick (1:57) and Royal Order.
Cluster Star, a three-year-old filly, completed the Northam treble with her third win from her last six starts.
To complete a great weekend, the Follow The Stars three-year-old colt Star Of Willoughby comfortably defeated older, more experienced rivals in 1:58 at Pinjarra.
Follow The Stars, an all-American bred son of Art Major, is the leading NSW based two and three-year-old stakes-winning sire this season. His two-year-old progeny has earned $175,598 and his three-year-old’s have amassed $252,540.
In all, Follow The Stars has sired 34 individual winners and $612,095 in stakes to date in 2021.
His stock have annexed a string of WA feature races this season including the Group 2 $50,000 WA Champagne Classic for two-year-olds and the Westsired Classics for two-year-old colts and three-year-old fillies.
Follow The Stars is standing this season at the Medowie Lodge stud, of Darren Reay for a fee of $3,300 including GST.
