The Chris Svanosio trained mare Norms Lady (Captaintreacherous) broke through for a well-deserved harness racing win in the Decoglaze Splashbacks Mares Pace at Ballarat.

Svanosio would have been quietly chuckling to himself as he lobbed along two horses back in the running line while Jilliby Willow and the $1.65 favorite Champagne Delight engaged in a two horse war for the front running.
The pair slid through a 6.1 second lead time before carving out a slick 27.2 first quarter.
Champagne Delight ultimately won the duel and Mark Pitt was able to grab a 32.2 second quarter ‘breather’ however the early burn subsequently took its toll in the home straight as those back in field emerged from the ruck.
It was Norms Lady ($14) which produced the stoutest finale sweeping down the middle of the track to score by two metres in a mile rate of 1:55.7.

Svanosio admitted he couldn’t have plotted a more favorable scenario during the race.
“I said to the owners before the race that we were hoping for a quick early quarter and that’s exactly what we got,” Svanosio said.
Svanosio said Norms Lady was overdue for a change of luck.
“I think she’d run about nine metro placings at Melton and she ran second to a couple of really top horses,” he said.
“She’s done a great job, I don’t know how many times she’s run the quickest sectionals at the meeting often from bad draws at Melton and just kept making up ground.”
