Harness racing officials acted swiftly to reschedule last Saturday night’s metropolitan meeting at Menangle to tonight following a COVID scare.
With a meeting already in place at Bankstown today, race times have been shuffled to accommodate for the two Sydney harness meetings.
Club Menangle racing manager David Wonson said it is important to support participants in these times.
“It was really important that participants were given the chance to race as opportunities are limited with regionalised racing,” said Wonson.
“Everyone is pulling together during these difficult times, so it was important for Club Menangle to not deny the owners, trainers and drivers the ability to earn a living.
“Nominations for the following Saturday have been extended to Wednesday to allow sufficient time for trainers to see how their horses have recovered after they compete on Monday.”
