The much improved Our Luciano (Sweet Lou) stormed into calculations for next week’s Chariots of Fire when he finished brilliantly to snatch harness racign victory in the $50,000 Group 3 Cordina Chicken Farms Paleface Adios Stakes at Menangle last night.

Some American was backed into favouritism but he was caught three wide early as stablemate Kingman’s driver Luke McCarthy was determined to hold the early lead. Soho Spectre was behind the leader and We Walk By Faith had a one out and one back trail. Our Luciano was following him and he was in front of Charge Ahead.
OUR LUCIANO FEB 22 REPLAY PALEFACE ADIOS STAKES
Despite the hard run, Some American issued a challenge to Kingman and their other stablemate Stormryder who had been on the rails looked likely to race past. But with the long straight both Our Luciano and Charge Ahead sprouted wings and in a driving finish it was Our Luciano who prevailed over Charge Ahead and Stormryder with the narrowest of margins.

Our Luciano was previously trained in Victoria by Keith Cotchin and as a two year old won the VicBred Final and proved to be more than handy as a three year old.
He only recently joined James Rattray’s stable and is unbeaten in two appearances.
Following the running of the event Club Menangle was able to confirm the final field for next weeks Cordina Chicken Farms Chariots of Fire.
