Emerging stayer Outlaw Man (Sweet Lou) served notice he should be at least mentioned in Hunter Cup conversations with a tough harness racing win in the Sulky.APP Future Of Form Pace at Melton.Ā
Outlaw Man settled two horses back in the running line before Kate Gath pulled out three wide with a lap to travel in pursuit of the death seat.Ā
Greg Sugars, sitting parked on the $1.90 favorite La Captain, was having none of that and Outlaw Man was caught three wide for the final lap before gradually surging to the front half way down the home straight.Ā
Bettor Be The Bomb emerged out of the ruck to challenge over the concluding stages however Outlaw Man ($2.80) held on to score by a head with Letsrockletsroll four metres away third.Ā

Gath admitted she thought the ādeath seatā would be vacant by the time she made her move.Ā
āI thought Iād just stroll around and get the death as La Captain would go to the front but that didnāt happen and I thought that āthis isnāt idealā, but it was the slowest quarter of the race and I hadnāt done any work early,ā Gath said.Ā
āIf he put it together every start he would be really good, I havenāt seen the Kilmore run since when he got pulling so I need to get him pulling again and youāll see the best one,ā she said.Ā
The win completed a race to race double for Kate and her husband Andy after Terry scored a comfortable win in the previous race.Ā
Terry ($5) enjoyed the genuine tempo during the middle stages of the race before Gath made her move with 700 metres to travel and the son of Terror To Love quickly put a gap on his rivals scoring by 11 metres from Mighty Flying Art.Ā
Gath admitted she couldnāt have scripted the race any more to her liking.Ā
āIt worked out perfectly for us,Ā thatās exactly how we would have liked it to be run and once they went that lead time and first quarter it was his race to lose,ā she said.Ā Ā Ā Ā
āI think he would be pretty fast too but he is tough and a really nice horse who keeps getting the job done.āĀ
