The six-week window concluded with Tuesday night’s race meeting in Albury, with all proceeds going to the Australian New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group’s WomenCan fundraising efforts.
This year, our female drivers and trainers were once again prolific during the campaign period, ensuring New South Wales contributed the highest portion of an outstanding national tally.
With pledge guarantees aligned to race victories by female drivers and trainers, NSW accumulated $73,500 during the campaign. This is made up of financial commitments from Harness Racing NSW, Club Menangle, Tabcorp and each of the clubs across the state that have hosted races since 1 February.
HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny lauded the achievements of female participants across the state.
“The thing I love about the Team Teal campaign is it is geared around performance and achievements and really does highlight how wonderfully talented our female drivers and trainers are on any given day or night that we race,” Mr Dumesny said.
“But they really do shine during the Team Teal window and we see that competitive nature kick in with the added lure of winning for such a great initiative. They are outstanding representatives of our sport, our industry and fine ambassadors for a very important and worthy cause.”
“Harness Racing New South Wales and our clubs are very proud to not only be involved in the Team Teal campaign but to be able to contribute financially and know that helps make a difference to so many lives.”
HRNSW committed money every time a female driver or trainer won a race on a New South Wales track during the campaign period. HRNSW was the only state to include wins by female trainers.
The amount was higher for wins notched by the official 2022 Team Teal ambassadors.
HRNSW would like to acknowledge this year’s ambassadors – KerryAnn Morris, Amanda Turnbull, Ellen Bartley, Jemma Coney, Grace Panella and Ashley Hart.
